A PASTORAL support worker who goes “above and beyond” to help her students is delighted to be nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.

Donna Hirst has worked at Failsworth School for the past nine years, working hard to look after the pupils at the school and take care of any issues they may have.

Donna, from Failsworth, said: “Wow, it feels brilliant to have been nominated.

“I am part of a team and I feel that we all do an amazing job for the school.

“I really do love the school and its pupils so I do my best for them.

“It feels really good to have been nominated for doing my job.”

She was nominated by head of Athens House Joanne Farnworth, who said: “Donna goes above and beyond to help and support the students of Failsworth School.

“She genuinely cares about young people not only in school but she also gives up her spare time to sit on a Failsworth support committee to try and tackle anti-social behaviour and help students put their views forward of how they would like to spend their evenings and spare time.

“She is a truly remarkable lady who cares passionately about young people.”

Donna has also sat as a community governor at a local primary school for many years.
