Teenager is a model pupil and tireless charity worker

CONSIDERATE, caring and responsible Eleanna Damianou is a committed pupil and giving citizen.

The 14-year-old Blue Coat school pupil finished this year with a 100 per cent attendance and helps regularly in her local community.

She has taken lead roles in year assemblies and no job or request for help is ever too much for her, according to Julie Hollis, Blue Coat School head teacher.

This year she has been involved in recruitment at school as part of a student panel and whenever staff are asked to recommend outstanding individuals for tasks that require maturity and an ability to take the initiative Eleanna’s name always features.

Entertain

In her free time she plays the guitar to entertain the elderly in local care homes and also actively raises money for charity, particularly the Oldham Food bank.

Eleanna’s charity work also extends to homeless organisations and throughout the Christmas period she was involved in wrapping Christmas gifts for a local homeless shelter in Grotton. Eleanna said: “I’m really surprised to have been nominated but also it is a great honour to be recognised by my school. There are a lot of other people around the school that do great things so it is really nice.”

Mrs Hollis said: “If she is absent from a lesson she demonstrates commendable commitment through contacting staff to ensure she doesn’t have any missing work and in terms of organisation is always keen to plan meticulously.

“Eleanna is a considerate, caring and responsible young lady, who fully understands what it means to be compassionate and demonstrate responsibility for others, while at the same time remaining a very unassuming individual, who keeps a low profile on the work that she does both in and out of school.”
