Pressure piles on Unsworth following Latics' humbling at Bromley
Date published: 16 September 2023
Latics were comprehensively beaten at Bromley yesterday
The pressure on under-fire manager David Unsworth cranked up significantly after Latics were thumped 3-0 at Bromley.
It was another miserable performance from the team, with Latics now sat third from bottom in the National League table.
Despite significant squad strengthening during the summer, it's been a miserable 2023/24 campaign so far, with Unsworth's men now winless in seven games.
They have won only once in nine matches in total, and most Latics fans appear to have now run out of patience with their manager.
Latics were swept aside by a Bromley side who have now won four in a row.
Josh Passley opened his account for the hosts in the 27th minute and Sam Woods doubled the advantage just before half-time.
Corey Whitely made it three in the 67th minute, slotting into the bottom corner after being set up by Jude Arthurs to round off a disastrous trip for Latics.
Boss Unsworth later said: "There are no excuses, we were second best today and that's the biggest disappointment of it all.
"I think in all of the games that we've come up a little bit short we've had great opportunities but today, no."
Latics are at home to York on Tuesday night.
