A FIRE which destroyed a bungalow in Uppermill is believed to have started in the kitchen.
Fire crews were called to the semi-detached house in Primrose Avenue at around 8.15pm yesterday.
Unattended food on a cooker is believed to have been the cause of the blaze the flames quickly spread to the roof and the bedroom.
A 63-year-old woman who was in the house had left by the time fire fighters arrived. She went to a neighbour who called the emergency services, and was later taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
Watch Manager Ben McDermott from Chadderton Fire Station said a dormer extension in the roof of the bungalow made the blaze tricky to tackle.
