Mossley attack appeal

POLICE are keen to speak to two men who may have seen a 70-year-old woman get thrown to the ground in a mugging in Mossley.

The pensioner was waiting for a friend when the attacker approached her from behind, grabbed her handbag and threw her to the floor before dragging her across the ground.

The attack happened near to Chutney Masala Restaurant, Manchester Road, at about 10.30pm on Friday, March 3.

It's believed the offender ran off towards Mossley town centre following the attack.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries and continues to recover at home.

The attacker is described as white, of medium height, slim build, in his late 20s to early 30s and about 5ft 8ins tall.

Detective Constable David Montgomery, from GMP's Tameside borough, said: "We are keen to speak to the two men who potentially saw what happened but left the scene before being able to pass over their details."
