JOIN Greenfield Street Scene tomorrow for a village litter pick. Meet at 10am outside Boarshurst Band Club.

Equipment provided, all welcome, under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.



BUDDING authors should head to Oldham Writing Cafe tomorrow at Lees Library, 10.30am–12.30pm. Spotlight on research, includes committee and planning meetings. Ideas from the workshop will be the basis of the next meeting the following Saturday.


CELEBRATE International Women’s Day on Sunday at Uppermill Methodist Church Hall, High Street, 2-4pm. Organised by local women from Saddleworth Palestine Women’s Scholarship Fund, there is a cookery demonstration, food sampling, a short film, exhibition and inspiring stories. Jewellery, Palestinian pottery and recipe cards on sale. Free entry, donations welcome.


PICK up tips to battle nocturnal waking with Nick Littlehales, sports sleep recovery coach, at a free sleeping wellbeing workshop tomorrow from 10am-4pm at Saddleworth Pool leisure centre. Book a place on 0161-207 7000.

A TABLE-TOP sale and coffee morning will be held tomorrow at Lees and Hey Club, Warrington Street, 10am-2pm, 20p entry, in aid of the RSPCA.


HELP revive Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath with Street Scene Greenfield. Work involves clearing debris, cutting back vegetation and resurfacing with stone. Equipment provided, wear suitable clothing and boots and take a snack on Saturday, March 15. Call Gill McCulley on 01457-870 364 for meeting details.


PLANS submitted for consideration by Saddleworth Parish Council committee include a small wind turbine on a 15 metre tower at Shiloh Farm Cottage, Shiloh Lane, Strinesdale, a bungalow on land at the side of 4 Rowan Tree Cottage, Bridge End, Delph, and a change of use for the former Diggle Station, Kiln Green, Diggle, into a dwelling and extension.


LOCAL retailers can showcase their products at the fourth Shop Local Festival, 10am-4pm, free entry, at the civic hall, Uppermill, on Sunday, March 16.
