A TALENTED trio of musicians in Delph Band have received long service awards for a total of 140 years of music making.
During the North-West Area Contest at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, Lorraine Valentine, Keith Palmer and David Bamford were presented with their awards for their dedication to music and the Saddleworth group.
Flugel player Lorraine started playing as a youngster in 1974 and is now the band secretary. Keith, the band’s principal euphonium player, has been in the band for 40 years, while the Diamond Award for 60 years service was presented to E-flat bass player David Bamford.
Conductor Philip Goodwin said: “I’m delighted that such outstanding loyalty and commitment has been recognised.
“For Lorraine and Keith to have dedicated 40 years service to just one organisation is a remarkable achievement. Dave has served many bands with distinction but since joining Delph in 1989 he has been an integral and invaluable member.”
