Lent lunches

WEDNESDAY Lent lunches are being served at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Station Road, Uppermill, every week until April 16, from noon to 1pm.


Entry is free, with any donations for the meal going to Christian Aid. All ages welcome. More information from Liz Rooke on 01457-810666.


SUPPORT Dobcross Ladies Bowlers at a fundraising antique fair on Sunday at, Dobcross Band and Social Club, from 10am to 4pm. Entry is £1, stalls £10, inquiries to Gill Smith on 01457 -870669.


JOIN Sacred Heart and Wellsprings Group to mark the 34th anniversary of the assassination of Archbishop Oscar Romero in El Salvador. The event takes place on Sunday at Sacred Heart RC Church, High Street, Uppermill, at 7pm .

“THE underground canals of Worsley” are the subject of a talk by Glen Atkinson on Wednesday, March 26, for Saddleworth Historical Society at Saddleworth Museum, 7.30pm.
