RUNNERS of all abilities are invited to take part in the Milltown to Moors 10k which is returning to Oldham for the second year.

Commonwealth Games athlete, and last year’s winner, Andi Jones will take part in the race which starts and finishes in the town centre.

He said: “The Milltown Race Series are great events for local runners.

“The 10k provides the perfect training ground for more experienced runners hoping to complete the half marathon in October, or a good starting challenge for beginners.

“I’ve got a busy race calendar this summer, so it’s going to be a challenging race for me, but I’m looking forward to taking part in what will be my last UK event for the next few years.”

The event takes place on Sunday, August 17, starting at 9.30am on the High Street.

Race director, Alan Keane, senior health and physical activity development officer at Oldham Community Leisure, said: “The Milltown to Moors Race series is going from strength to strength.

“Following on from our successful 7k Carnival Race in June, we’re back with a 10k next month, and then the infamous Oldham Half Marathon in October.

“The 10k is a great training run for those hoping to compete our half marathon but it’s also a good opportunity for runners to raise money for charity or for aspiring runners to set themselves a challenge.”

You can join OCL’s weekly running group on a Wednesdays at 6.30pm which meets at Oldham Sport Centre. Enter the race at www.milltownraces.co.uk
