SADDLEWORTH Historical Society holds its annual general meeting at the Saddleworth Museum Gallery, Uppermill, on Wednesday, November 19 (7.30pm).

The meeting will be followed by an illustrated presentation entitled “Historical Topics of Saddleworth” given by Mike Buckley.


SADDLEWORTH Civic Trust has its AGM at the same venue on the following night at the same time. New members welcome.


THE first in a series of bi-monthly gig nights called LIVE@THE CON takes place tomorrow. Saddleworth indie/rock band Mind the Gap are playing from 8pm at Greenfield Conservative Club. Tickets cost £3 and are available from Greenfield Conservative Club and www.wegottickets.com.


BURGLARS forced their way into a mill in Greenfield last week and made off with goods. The break-in took place in Holmfirth Road, Greenfield, between October 8 and October 9. Anyone with information should call police on their non-emergency 101 number.


A FASHION show is being held at the White Hart, Lydgate, later this month. The event is to raise money for the refurbishment of St Anne’s parish hall and starts at 11.30am on Thursday, October 30. Call 01457-872 566 for tickets, priced £27.50.


ST MARY’S Church, Greenfield, is holding its monthly Ladies Luncheon Club on Thursday, October 30. Reverend Jim Burns, of Diggle, will be the guest speaker. The meeting starts at 11.30am.
