Four charged in £1.5m drugs haul

FOUR people have been charged after drugs worth £1.5 million were seized by police in Mossley.

Officers from the Tameside Organised Crime Team swooped on addresses in Dukinfield, Ashton, Stalybridge and Mossley last week. They seized large amounts of cocaine and up to £100,000 in cash frm homes in Ashton and Stalybridge, followed by the discovery of the huge Mossley haul, made up of 20kg of cocaine and cutting agents worth £500,000, 88kg of amphetamine worth more than £800,000 and 6kg of MDMA worth £180,000.

Ben Harrison (29), of Providence Street, Ashton, is charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, and charges of conspiracy to acquire and to conceal criminal property.

Rosina Rapuano (29), also of Providence Street, faces similar conspiracy charges.

Liam Walker (27) of Staley Farm Close, Stalybridge, is charged with possession of a Class A drug and conspiracy to acquire criminal property.

They appeared before Tameside Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Irene Grayson (54), from Mossley, has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and was due to appear before Tameside Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Inspector Andy Sandiford of the Tameside Organised Crime Team, said: “I can’t go into too much detail but we have seized more than £1million worth of drugs - which by any stretch of the imagination is a huge amount.

“We have stopped massive amounts of drugs from being distributed on our streets. It’s an absolutely fantastic result.”
