AN 18-year-old Saddleworth games programmer is one of the people behind a controversial online game that pokes fun at UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

John Hutchinson from Greenfield is the co-founder of FonGames and played a major part in creating “UKIK”.

The game features character “Nicholas Fromage” kicking immigrants off the white cliffs of Dover and has been slammed as “risible and pathetic” by Mr Farage, who feels the game “crosses the line”.

FonGames is former Saddleworth School pupil John and four sixth-form pupils from Canterbury Academy.

John said: “This game is a bit of fun and nothing else — it’s satire. If I’m honest I didn’t think the game would take off quite as much as it did, but here we are.

“Nigel Farage’s comments surprised me but at the same time I’m not shocked about what he said.”

The Android app features a letter on its description page which reads: “Do foreign voices on trains scare you? Can you handle a European living next door? Does your wife refuse to clean behind the fridge? Do you think women are too stupid to win a game of chess or have a top-level job?

“If you are feeling irrational and want to live in a right-wing hell hole then vote UKIK this May.

“These people might improve our economy, contribute to our culture and make Britain great but they are different to us so let’s kick them all out.”

John added: “A lot of people really loved the idea so we built it in a week and it was a little rushed.

“We’ve made better games, but people really took to the concept of this one.”
