Conservative have picked their candidate to contest the Oldham East and Saddleworth seat held by Labour’s Debbie Abrahams in May’s General Election.
Sajjad Hussain, who has lived in Oldham for more than 20 years, was chosen following an intense question and answer session at High Crompton Conservative Club.
Councillor John Hudson said: “I am delighted with the result, especially in that we have picked a local candidate. Sajjad has lived in the borough for over 20 years
“He gained a good reputation as chief executive of a local housing association in Oldham and has much to offer.”
Mr Hussain added: “ Every single vote matters and that is why I have a busy period ahead.”
