Greenhouse landed off Station Road Uppermill
A SHOCKED resident woke up missing a greenhouse yesterday after strong gusts of wind sent it airborne.
The greenhouse was blown apart and carried by winds reaching 47mph, leaving gardening equipment strewn across the road. Uppermill resident Rick Lees snapped this picture.
The incident happened shortly after the Met Office issued a cold weather warning for the whole of the North-West.
Average temperatures are about to fall to -2C, and widespread ice and snow could follow.
Frank Saunders, Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “Frost and ice are expected to become increasingly widespread through the period, with some severe overnight frosts likely in the north over any snow cover by Monday.”
