Collection cards still not sorted

A FRUSTRATED sub-postmaster has again lashed out at Royal Mail chiefs as customers continue to turn up at his Uppermill premises to collect packages he doesn’t have.

Sub-postmaster Graham Sheldon blew up after weeks of fielding cstomers who had come to Uppermill to collect packages actually held at Oldham’s Hamilton Street sorting offices. The recipients had been misdirected to Uppermill by a batch of wrongly printed “unable to deliver” cards.

Graham Sheldon said: “I had two customers from Oldham in to collect parcels yesterday. In one case, a man had taken an hour off work to come. It’s terribly frustrating for the disappointed customers and my team, who have to explain the problem.

“More than a hundred customers made wasted journeys to Uppermill and despite promises from Royal Mail, the figure is still rising,” added Mr Sheldon.

Yesterday a Post Office spokesman said the problems had been resolved, but after the latest report the Post Office has launched an investigation to work out why the cards are still being left.
