Road disruption

Queensway in Greenfield will be closed from Monday for three weeks, affecting passengers travelling on the 353/354 bus services.


The closure affects the junction with Wellington Road. Monday-Saturday daytime journeys on services 353/354, and means buses will be unable to run to the area between Wellington Road and Church Road (service 353) and Wellington Road and Bridge Street (service 354).


LEES and Hey Conservative Club holds its bingo night every Friday at the club in Warrington Street, Lees, from 7pm.



THE Ladies Luncheon Club at St Mary’s Church, Greenfield,next will meet on March 5 at Boarshurst Band Club, from 11.30am to noon. It will be followed by the club’s annual general meeting.



The Friends of Castleshaw Roman Forts group meets at Uppermill Civic Hall on Wednesday, February 18, from 7.30pm. The meeting will include an illustrated talk on “Evacuations on Dorstone Hill”. Members get in free but non-members must pay £3.



THE RSF Off Road Cycling Club is holding its “Saddleworth Circuit” guided ride on Tuesday, February 10. Cyclists should meet at the Old Kiln Cafe, Brownhill’s Visitor Centre, Uppermill, for a 10am start. Call Rob Newton on 07941-757685 for more details.



SPRINGHEAD Liberal Club holds its “It’s not Rocket Science” general knowledge quiz on Tuesday, February 10, from 8.30pm. Entry costs £3 with proceeds going to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and the Oldham branch of the MS Society.



HOUSEHOLDERS are invited to the Greenfield and Grasscroft Residents’ Association’s annual general meeting on March 12.
