Charity gig

RETIRED musician John Loydon is taking to the stage for one-night only for a charity gig in Uppermill on May 8.

John, who will be joined by Mojo Rising for the event, will perform a selection of blues classics and his own songs at the Hare and Hounds, from 6pm. The gig is in aid of NMO-SpectrumUK.

UPPERMILL Civic Hall will play host to a selection of local handmade products stalls this year at the Saddleworth Handmade Festivals. The spring event is open from May 14-15, from 11am-4pm, admission free. The evnt will raise money for the Saddleworth Museum.


SADDLEWORTH Musical Society will perform Haydn’s Creation at Uppermill Civic Hall on May 8 from 7.30pm. The event will feature guest soloists George Hulbert (bass), Chris Dodd (tenor) and Marie Louise Lane (soprano). LOVE Lydgate is to hold a community fundraising evening featuring tribute band The Threetles on Thursday, April 21, at 8pm at The White Hart, Lydgate. Admission is £10 a head.


There’s a charity fund-raising quiz at the Royal George, Greenfield, on April 22 (8pm). The event is to raise money for Bright Futures, Lydgate’s pioneering school, which supports young people living with autism. Quiz entry is £1.50 a head, maximum of five to a team.


SADDLEWORTH Male Voice Choir presents its annual concert for St George on April 23. Taking place at Uppermill Civic Hall from 7.30pm, admission is £10 and tickets are available from Uppermill Post Office, the Hare and Hounds pub in Uppermill or David Davies on 01457-873 182. Proceeds in aid of choir funds.
