HOME Delivery Network, the logistics business in Shaw with more than 550 employees, is the latest sponsor to back the One Oldham Business Awards.

The company, owned by the Barclay brothers who bought the Littlewoods Home Shopping empire and rebranded the business as Shop Direct Group, will support the Business of the Year category (£1m to £5m turnover).

General manager Angela Carus, an Oldham woman who took over at the Linney Lane business in August last year, said: “We will be entering the awards ourselves, in the plus £5 million turnover category, and we are delighted to be one of the major backers of these awards.

“When we discussed our involvement at a managerial meeting, there was unanimous enthusiasm from everyone to enter ourselves and to be part of the process.

“We are one of the borough’s largest employers, and yet I believe if you ask people in Shaw town centre about Home Delivery Network not too many would know us.

“We want to be a part of the community and we see support for these awards as part of that process.

“We have heard only good things about last year’s event which is why we want to be involved.”

There are 10 categories, up from from eight in the inaugural year, and nominations can now be made online.

Entry forms are available — businesses in the borough will be receiving these in the post this week but anyone requiring a form can contact me here at the Chronicle on 0161-622 2134.

All nominations will be recognised in a special supplement of the Chronicle and all finalists will receive a pair of tickets to the gala presentation dinner at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Monday, March 22.
