FRUSTRATING baggage fees could be a thing of the past tanks to an Oldham entrepreneur

Jordan Makin’s Luggage Mule is a low-cost luggage transit service. The 28-year-old businessman set it up after growing tired of paying expensive airline fees and not being able to take liquids and suncreams in hand luggage.

His company collects holidaymakers’ luggage at their home and delivers it to the destination cheaply — without airport check-in or collection delays .

A 25kg bag to Spain and back would cost £170 with Ryanair and £102 with EasyJet. Luggage Mule offers the service for £49.99.

Mr Makin, who grew up in Royton and attended Oldham Hulme Grammar, said he believes his company is providing a unique service.

He said: “Current providers weren’t set up for the holiday market so we knew we could do it better by allowing the carriage of liquids and aerosols.

“Prices of low-cost airlines were so high we felt we had a way of offering a genuine alternative to flying with your luggage. Families can walk on to the plane and straight to their hotel without touching their luggage. It also gives elderly people the chance to go abroad without carrying heavy bags.”

Luggage Mule’s service will be operated through global delivery company UPS, but currently only in Europe.
