AN Oldham manufacturing company is celebrating 30 years in business with an open day at its Royton base followed by a party for the 60 staff.

UK Electronics Ltd, a sub contract electronics business, relocated five years ago to Schofield House in Fitton Street, Royton. The move into 13,000 sq ft of manufacturing, warehousing and office space was needed to accommodate the growing workforce — 50 of the staff are in production and stores — reflecting a turnover that has quadrupled in five years.

The business serves the electronics industry including scientific, military, medical, automotive and LED lighting.

The company’s design and development team has produced a wide range of products including environmental heating and ventilation systems, precision oven temperature controllers, security systems, scientific mass spectrometry, sonar, electrofusion, engine governors, radio communications, fan control systemiser systems, battery monitor equipment and remote monitoring, to name but a few of the many applications to which the company’s expertise is integral.

“We have a booming order book,” says sales manager Alan Taylor, from Royton.

He added: “We do not manufacture any of our own products but we aim to be a one-stop shop for our customers and can take an idea from inception to final production.

“We have quadrupled our sales in the last few years and doubled our workforce and are now adding another 4,000sq ft to our manufacturing area.”

Around 90 per cent of the company’s business is in the North-West, but the client base is expanding and the company now has customers from all parts of the UK.

The open day, to which current clients and customers will be invited, as will potential clients and people who used to use the company’s service, will take place in November..
