King of the outdoor classroom

DELIGHTED staff and pupils are celebrating after landing a £9,000 windfall for a new outdoor learning space at their school.

Kingfisher Community School in Foxdenton Lane, Chadderton, scooped the generous donation from Zen Internet.

Features will include designs specially geared towards children with autism as well as an amphitheatre for lessons outside the classroom.

Michael Unsworth, Kingfisher business and marketing director, said: “The money raised has allowed us to develop a key learning and play area for children with severe and complex autism, where a combination of physical challenges within a structured area was a crucial requirement for their needs.

“Without the support of Zen, we would not have been unable to put these fantastic facilities in place and we are incredibly grateful to all the staff and proud to be associated with the company.”

Zen Internet, which in 1995 became one of the UK’s first internet service providers, selects a different charity each year to support. Next on the list is the Christie’s Young Oncology Unit.
