RYAN Davies (22) runs a photography business named after himself which was previously called Monocolour Photography.

He received a £5,000 loan from the Oldham Enterprise Fund which he wants to use to create a new website, branding and packaging for his business.

Speaking about the loan, he said: “I hope this is the start of a long, exciting journey which will push the business forward quite significantly. I’m really pleased to have been selected.”

He grew up in Austerlands and attended Saddleworth School and Oldham Sixth Form College.

He said: “I originally wanted to study architecture but became interested in photography at college. I specialise in fashion and dance photography but also do products and stock photography for businesses including Tesco, Parrot UK, Party21 and AmpWire, which is based in Chadderton and makes retail shelving and hangers for firms including Tesco and Harrods in London.”

Ryan is based at the Chambers Business Centre in Oldham town centre. He has received mentoring support from Gill Nolan, who works in this area for the Government-backed Business Growth Hub.

Ryan said: “There is a lot of help available and young people should go for it. I only found out what’s available years after starting my business but it’s still been really useful.”
