ERIC Bishyika (16) is behind the Something Worthy fashion firm which makes T-shirts, shorts, hoodies, tops and accessories.
He has a range of 40 lines and has sold over 650 individual items of stock so far. His SW-themed clothing can be bought at the Zutti Co shop, in Yorkshire Street, and Simiun stall in Tommyfield Market, both Oldham, along with Affleck’s Palace in Manchester.
Eric, from Hollinwood, was a pupil at Oasis Academy and now studies at the business-orientated Peter Jones Academy at Oldham College.
He has received a £1,000 grant from the Oldham Enterprise Fund to develop new ranges along with his website and marketing activities.
He said: “I started the business when I was 13. In the last year or so, I’ve spent more time promoting it and developing my business plan. “
Eric has appeared in numerous newspaper articles and been interviewed by the BBC about his work.
He counts former pop star Will Young among his customers after the performer bought some SW- branded tie-dyed socks.
Organisers praised the rapid rise of Eric’s business.
He already employs other people on a part-time basis and he could soon be employing more on full-time contracts if the business keeps growing.
