A BUSINESS set up using redundancy money is flourishing after 10 years of serving customers across the world

Oops A Daisies florists in Heron Street, Hollinwood, is run by Vickey Walker, who has worked in the industry since leaving school at 16.

“From the day I walked into my first job on leaving school it was all I ever wanted to do,” said Vickey, whose ambition to have her own business only came about when husband Tony was made redundant.

They worked to convert a former bike shop into a flower shop and today Oops A Daisies is one of the most recognised names in Oldham.

“We said we would try it for 12 months and here we are, 10 years on,” said Vickey.

They have customers all over the area, specialising in weddings and funerals. Tony is the full-time delivery man and sons Joel and Nyle help out too.

Through a hugely successful Facebook page they take calls from all over the world and have regular customers in America, Canada and Australia.

“When we started all those years ago we hoped we would be a success.

“We knew we would work hard and put in the hours but to be here 10 years on is remarkable really.”
