CHADDERTON firm City Response has scooped a prestigious health and safety award.

The repairs and maintenance contractor has been awarded the Silver Award for Occupational Health and Safety from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The RoSPA Awards, which date back 58 years, recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention at work.

The scheme is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas and judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems.

City Response prides itself on consistent health-and-safety training and ensures every employee, including apprentices, are given full inductions and training with top-ups on-the-job to keep staff fully up-to-date with the latest practices and policies.

Warren Goodall, head of business development for City Response, said: “This is a great accolade for City Response. It’s the seal of approval that endorses our commitment to health and safety.”

To meet the criteria for a RoSPA Silver Award, winners must achieve a high level of performance, underpinned by good management systems, which are delivering consistent improvement and are working towards the level of excellence required for a Gold Award.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s award manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage the raising of occupational health and safety standards across the board.

“Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety such as City Response, contribute to a collective raising of the bar for other firms to aspire to, and we offer them our congratulations.”
