YORKSHIRE Street’s independent quarter came alive with the sound of music.

Clothing and footwear shop Scoots, Suits and Boots hosted its first “It’s What’s in the Groove” event which saw Micradotts frontman Tony Daly belt out classic indie, mod and punk hits for customers.

The shop’s owner Mick Harwood said: “A lot of our customers, of all ages, are really into their music, as are we. So we decided, that as we open until 7pm on a Thursday, we should take the chance to entertain our customers and give them a chance to unwind after a days graft.”

The shop is holding its events on the last Thursday of every month and Mick says there is already a great line-up booked, ranging from emerging talent to well known faces.

He added: “Our customers have a range of tastes in music, but it’s fair to say that the music we will be presenting will be heavily influenced by the various sub-cultures that have embraced scooter culture over the decades.”

The next gig will take place on Thursday, August 29, when local indie band Dirty Brunswick will perform in the store.
