A CHADDERTON company has played a major role in converting the upper six floors of Watsons Chambers in Sheffield — formerly a business centre — to provide 61 self-contained studio flats and one twin-bedroom unit.

ZenOffice Business Interiors and Exteriors (ZOBIE) on the Broadway Business Park, was working on behalf of Hartshead Group.

The six-month programme includes a complete remodelling of the building’s interior, new high-performance windows and en-suite shower rooms fitted in to all the studios. On completion this summer the building will be managed by Omnia Space as student residences, providing an outstanding living accommodation in the city centre close to Sheffield Hallam City Campus.

Hartshead Group’s Tony Marsden said: “The conversion of Watsons Chambers to residential accommodation gives us a great opportunity to improve the use of this building while at the same time we continue to run our successful business centre serviced offices from other buildings within the portfolio. We are looking forward to working with ZOBIE to deliver high quality studios.”

ZenOffice managing director Les Kerr added: “This is a significant win for the team and builds on our investment in the ZOBIE division.

“Our strong interior design and delivery capabilities make us a great partner for design and build schemes in a variety of sectors including accommodation, commercial and industrial refurbishment and fitting out projects.”

Established in 1972, ZenOffice has become one of the UK’s largest independent office suppliers serving more than 3,000 clients and employing more than 80 staff.
