A TECHNOLOGY business specialising in the transport industry has played a key role in developing a better public information system for passengers and operators throughout Wales.

Omnibus, based at Hollinwood Business Park, has worked with PTI Cymru to streamline the processing and management of timetables and mapping data for all bus services in Wales. The work has resulted in a new website and journey planner using data from 5,800 timetables covering 1,370 bus services — and 26,000 bus stops! The information is available on all kinds of desktop and mobile devices.

The system uses data on around 80 bus, coach and rail operators and 22 Welsh local authorities.

Omnibus, which is also celebrating its 25th anniversary, has travel industry clients across England, Scotland and Wales, such as First Bus, and also works with local authorities including Lancashire County Council.
