CONSTRUCTION and fit-out firm Medlock FRB has secured contracts worth more than £3milllion with Premier Inn, Britain’s biggest hotel chain.

Medlock has begun schemes near the Trafford Centre and at Penrith in Cumbria.

They follow Medlock’s successful completion earlier this year of extensions to sites at Stafford North and Leeds-Bradford Airport for the Whitbread-owned chain.

A 20-room extension to the Premier Inn near the Trafford Centre is due to be completed in October. The contract includes all external works, internal fit-outs and a refurbishment of the reception area.

Medlock has also begun constructing a three-storey, 60-bedroom Premier Inn and restaurant at the New Squares shopping centre in Penrith, which is scheduled to be completed by February, 2016.

The Premier Inn chain operates nearly 700 hotels and 60,000 rooms across the UK, and Whitbread aims to have 85,000 rooms by 2020.

Medlock finance director Colin Drury said: “We have an extensive track record of delivering new-build hotels and extensions on time, on budget and safely.

“We are delighted to be working with Premier Inn again as it continues to expand to meet growing demand.”

Medlock grew revenues by 69 per cent in 2014, up from £11million to £18.5million. Its strong performance was fuelled by a string of major customer wins including Whitbread, JD Wetherspoon and Curzon Cinemas.

The firm is forecasting sales of more than £20million for 2015.

Medlock FRB specialises in the leisure, hotel, commercial and retail sectors. Alongside its purpose-built headquarters in Oldham, the company has a 20,000 sq ft site where it manufactures joinery, metalwork and glass products for clients.

Medlock FRB is owned by its management team and employs more than 60 staff.
