Pair land roles with furnishings retailer

FAILSWORTH-based furnishings retailer Housing Units appointed two senior members of staff to its expanding team.

Stewart Smith has joined as retail director with Alison Hartley taking up the newly created role of multi-channel director.

Housing Units said it has experienced impressive growth in the past six months, with staff numbers approaching 300 as the company prepares to celebrate its 70th year in business.

Alison is an expert in international e-commerce and has 16 years of UK and international multi-channel experience.

She has had previous roles with businesses including Co-operative Travel, Mamas & Papas, and more recently at Walmart for George.com.

Stewart has 18 years of retail experience, having previously worked with Marks & Spencer as a store manager, where he assisted with the opening of three stores.

Mr Hartley said: "As a local woman who understands the values, quality and uniqueness of the Housing Units brand, I am thoroughly looking forward to developing the multi-channel strategy to deliver a seamless shopping experience for our customers, both in-store and online."

Mr Smith said: "Having worked in a retail environment for the majority of my career, I am thrilled to be joining a company that puts quality and customer service at the forefront of its strategy."
