Bitten by the ballot
Date published: 07 May 2010
ELECTION 2010
Veteran campaigner Jeremy Sutcliffe ended a 40-year record of campaigning without a scratch when he was bitten by a dog.
The former Chadderton North councillor was campaigning in his old ward on Wednesday when he put a leaflet through a letterbox and his little finger was caught by the jaws of a Staffordshire bull terrier.
He said: “Fortunately there was someone near by who knew first aid.
“I have lost a large chunk of skin, but I carried on leafleting before going off to the Royal Oldham Hospital.”
Mr Sutcliffe stood down in 2007, after a political career that began in the former Oldham County Borough Council in 1971.

Is the dog OK?
Flake, have you not melted yet in the sun? you dont half talk rubbish at times. Postmen get bitten all the time....so are they all Labour party supporters too?
I hope Mr Sutcliffe recovers and the dog was only trying to protect his home....may have been a little hungry too...Mr Sutcliffe must have good meat!
SO LETS GET THIS RIGHT, YOU CHOSE TO WALK UP SOMEONES DRIVE AT YOUR DECISION, POST SOMETHING THROUGH THE LETTERBOX, UN ADRESSED TO THE RECIPIENT..AGAIN YOUR DECISION AND YOU CHOSE TO PUT YOUR HAND THROUGH THE LETTER BOX, AGAIN YOUR DECISION AND YOU WANT SYMPATHY.....POOR DOG!!
Idiot! its common sense not to put your hands in the letterbox, they say lessons in life aren't cheap lets hope he learns from this one.
There's no accounting for taste!
Have Your Say

Not the only Labour party campaigner to be bitten by a dog. The other one was a PPC in Liverpool who lost the tip of his index finger. They do say that snimals have a better sense in some areas, and it seems that they know something we don't !
