HOCKEY hero Nicola White showed her support for Chadderton Park Sport Club's Cerebral Palsy team.

Oldham's Olympic gold medallist took part in the group's football training session, standing in as goalie while children took their aim.

Nicola turned out for the event on Sunday, October 9 with mum Gill White, offering Chadderton Park cakes to all of the players.

She signed autographs for the young people and allowed them to don her medals for a series of photographs.

The 28-year-old said: "I had a fantastic time with the team at Chaddy Park seeing all the great work that they do.

"I was really impressed with the children's energy and enthusiasm and I loved joining in the football with them, although I was frequently outskilled by the little stars.

"Chaddy Park has really transformed the lives of the children and their families allowing them a place to develop, learn and most importantly be competitive and have fun.

"The gold medal went down a treat and there were smiles all morning long.

"Well done Chaddy Park and good luck for your upcoming matches."

Mum and daughter, who spent more than two hours with the team, were presented with a bouquet of flowers in the club's colours as well as a Chadderton Park scarf.

Nicola has agreed to donate a signed hockey stick for the club's 2017 photo competition and will select the winner next September.

Secretary Craig Simpson said: "We cannot thank Nicola and Gill enough.

"The smiles on the children's faces were amazing to see.

"For an Olympic Gold medallist to give up so much of her own time and participate in the session was fantastic.

"Nicola and Gill are two lovely ladies who now have Chaddy Park cerebral palsy team close to their hearts."
