RESCUE cats are looking for a new home after being housed by Oldham RSPCA for more than four months.

Candy and April, two female cats, have been "overlooked" by visitors to the branch but are holding out for their "forever homes."

RSPCA Bury, Oldham and District branch has urged potential cat owners to come forward to adopt the two older feline friends.

Deputy animal centre manager Lisa Walsh said: "These are two special appeals.

"These cats have been in our care for a number of months now and deserve to be in a forever home.

"Candy is very sociable and thoroughly enjoys being around people.

"She can be rehomed with children of any age.

"However, due to being a carrier of Feline Calicivirus, she cannot be rehomed with other cats.

"If you think you could be the family she has been looking for please contact the branch.

"April has been viewed by lots of people but she seems to get overlooked.

"She can be a little shy at first but with a few gentle words of encouragement she soon comes out of her shell."

Foster cat Candy was a pregnant stray found by residents who alerted RSPCA inspectors about her plight.

She gave birth to two kittens after being taken to the RSPCA Greater Manchester Animal Hospital though the kittens did not survive.

Ms Walsh said: "This was an extremely sad time in Candy's life.

"Candy is a beautiful and affectionate cat."
