AN AVID "Back To The Future" fan shared the story behind the DeLorean car on display at the launch event.

Mike Hutchinson (38) spent two years researching and building a life-size model of the DeLorean DMC-12.

Through his membership of DeLorean Club UK, Mike was able to get hold of parts for his scale-version of the fictional time travel vehicle.

Mr Hutchinson said: "I have been a 'Back To The Future' fan for years and years.

"I bought it as a stock DeLorean four years ago and after six months thought it would be really cool to convert it into the time machine from the film.

"I contacted Universal Pictures and got hold of the castings through Michael Scheffe, who helped to build the time machine for the films, and other American contacts. I got all of the destination times.

"They are as screen-accurate as they can be.

"I've used aircraft parts to put the car together - it's made with helicopter struts and Vantage aircraft parts.

Mr Hutchinson also has has full-size replica 24ft clock tower which appears in the film.
