A WANTED sex offender has been spotted on CCTV in Oldham.

Francis Doherty, also known as Frank Doherty, is wanted for breach of his licence conditions.

The 63-year-old, who has links to Rawtenstall, Bacup and Haslingden, was jailed for three years in 2005 after being convicted of two sexual assaults.

Following extensive inquiries, police have traced Doherty to the Greater Manchester area and he was pictured at around 9.10am on Tuesday last week at Santander Bank in George Street, Oldham.

He was seen walking with a stick and wearing a distinctive camouflage hoodie.

Distinctive

Detective Sergeant Stephen Munro, of Lancashire Police, said: "We are continuing to appeal for information as to Doherty's whereabouts after he breached his licence conditions.

"From our inquiries we now know he is likely to be in the Greater Manchester area. It is possible Doherty could be begging but unknown where and he may be sleeping rough.

"He is wearing a distinctive hoodie and walking with a stick.

"If you have seen someone matching his description, please get in touch.

"Anyone who can assist with inquiries is asked to contact police immediately."

If you can help, contact police on 101, quoting reference 0030 of October 15.
