A LORRY had to be lifted from a car by construction machinery following a crash in Grasscroft yesterday.

Emergency services, including police and fire crews, were called to Oldham Road shortly before 1pm after a grey Honda CR-V collided with the rear of a blue dropside lorry and became wedged underneath.

Luckily a crane working on a construction site on the road close to the crash was available to help lift the lorry from the car.

No injuries were reported from the incident however the car suffered significant damage from the collision.

The road was partially shut for over an hour while the recovery and clean-up operation was carried out, resulting in delays in the area.

Oldham Road was eventually fully reopened at 2.30pm.
