Hat-trick of romance in football love matches

THERE was definitely something in the cold air of last week - and it was that wonderfully warm word "love".

Cupid shot three of his arrows straight into the hearts of a trio of local amateur footballers - Royton Park player-manager Lewis Waterman, Springhead and Limeside King George attacking midfielder Ryan Fagan and Springhead first team coach Lee Walsh - who all proposed to their partners... with positive responses.

All three questions were popped within seven days of each other.

In the case of kitchen fitter Lewis, it was his partner Faye Coyne (20) who arranged a surprise holiday in Rome to celebrate Lewis' 24th birthday.

But the bigger surprise came when Lewis proposed to Faye, his partner of more than three years, while in the Italian capital.

Lewis said: "I popped the question to Faye at the Trevi Fountain and I was very happy when she said yes. We plan to get married within the next two or three years."

In the case of 22-year-old O2 sales adviser Ryan, his proposal to Leonie Lennon (21), a manager at McDonald's in Oldham, was made in the more mundanesurroundings of the front room of his home in Limeside.

Ryan said: "When Leonie said 'yes,' it was the icing on the cake because we also had a baby girl, Willow, four months ago.

"She is going to grow up to be a Liverpool fan like me."

The Cupid theme continued when 42-year-old Lee proposed to his partner Natalie Taylor (41) after 19 months together.

Lee, who works for United Utilities, proposed to Natalie, a PA for Mercer Solicitors, in the living room of their house in Moorside.

Lee said: "When Natalie said 'yes' I was absolutely overwhelmed and ecstatic.

"It really made the weekend.

"We plan to get married sometime in 2018."
