Vehicle strikes tree

DRIVERS got a shock when a car ploughed into a tree at lunchtime yesterday.
Police attended the crash at around 12.45pm which saw the front end of a silver Fiat mangled when it hit a tree in Rochdale Road next to the junction of Crompton Street.
Although no injuries were reported, witnesses saw two young men, aged around 19, leave the vehicle and flee the scene.
