A FITNESS fundraiser topped more than £4,000 for mental health after the death of a loving and caring daughter who was always smiling.

Some 130 residents turned out for a body weight workout in memory of 20-year-old Chloe Holt who was discovered in her university bedroom.

Her kind-hearted uncle Matt Hoyle with the help of other family members threw himself into organising the special remembrance event in aid of mental health charity Mind.

Friends family and generous givers were squatting, lunging and doing leg exercises as personal trainer Matt led the way at Waterhead Academy Sports Hall on Tuesday night.

Matt said: "It was absolutely immense. The atmosphere was booming.

"I am absolutely exhausted after the exercise class. Everyone is saying their legs are killing - we gave it our all. It was emotional but we got through it.

"We know that Chloe would be proud and really pleased that we've raised this much money."

A total of £3,881 was raised solely through the fitness fundraiser which included a raffle but more money is still coming in taking the total to above £4,000.

Chloe's parents Stephen Holt and Janine Hoyle of Greenacres believe their daughter took her own life after coming across several diaries which recorded her feelings of unhappiness and anxiety, although an inquest is still to be held to determine the legal cause of death.

Stephen said: "The fundraiser was fantastic. It was a bit overwhelming to see so many people turn up.

"We would like to thank everyone who attended or donated and everyone who helped on the night, making cakes and organising the raffle.

"Special thanks go to Sam, Matt, James and Emily for all their hard work in getting everything organised. They've been amazing. Chloe would be so proud of everybody involved.

"If everyone is up for it maybe we could make it an annual event."
