THEIR oldest member is 66 and some haven't danced for 30 years.

But that didn't stop the disbanded Krystal's dance troupe from dusting off their pumps to claim victory at Southport on Sunday.

The team won the Mid Cheshire Independent Adjudicating Panel's veteran competition at their annual Charity Day, 15 years after the troupe last performed.

After reforming last November they've been practising at Tara Leisure which let the ladies use the room for free and sponsored their T-shirts.

MCIAP judges Lindsay Rawstron and Dianne Hayes are former Krystal dancers and were part of the 12-strong squad.

Lindsay said: "After 15 years we are all absolutely overjoyed and could not believe it. We're so happy we decided to take part and not only raise money but actually win it."

The event, which attracted 50 troupes from across the north of England and the Midlands, raised around £11,000 which will be split between 11 charities.

The Layla Rose Ermenekli Forever Fund Meningitis Now - set up in memory of the six-year-old "dancing angel" who died suddenly in February after contracting meningococcal meningitis and danced with The Collette's Dance troupe, in Oldham - is set to benefit as well as Meningitis Now which was nominated by Charley Kershaw, from Fuzion dance troupe in memory of her dad.
