MESS . . . after the break-in
THIEVES ransacked a charity shop in Lees causing vast amounts of damage and making off with cash.
The RSPCA shop on High Street was forced to close on Friday following the break-in.
Images from the shop show that drawers had been raided, items scattered on the floor and worktops and pictures ripped from the walls.
In a post on Facebook the shop said: "The shop has been ripped apart and money stolen.
"Much-needed funds will now have to be spent repairing the damage. It is very upsetting for all the staff and volunteers who work so hard every day.
"Please contact the police if you have any information that could help."
The shop was able to reopen as normal on Saturday, however staff and volunteers were still affected by the incident.
A police spokesperson confirmed: "The burglary occurred between 5pm on Thursday, August 24, and 8.30am on Friday, August 25.
"No-one has been arrested and enquires are ongoing."
