Vandals strike at football club

Date published: 07 January 2009

AMATEUR footballers were left crying foul when vandals caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to their newly-refurbished clubhouse.

Yobs broke into Springhead Football Club and wrecked the bar, dragged optics from their fastenings and ripped a new flat-screen television off the wall.

Dismayed club development officer Paula Revill said: “They took the till, which only had a few pence in, and ripped a huge chunk of plaster off the wall along with the television. They pulled metal shutters off the windows and smashed the glass.”

Paula was called out at 4am on Friday, shortly after the vandals are thought to have struck.

“It will cost thousands of pounds to put everything right,” she added.

“We have 14 teams and 250 playing members and they will all be gutted.

“Club members did all the work themselves.”

Pity the scum don't channel their energy into being part of a club such as Springhead. But then that won't pay for the booze and drugs will it? Birch them!

This goes to show that neighbourhood watch schemes wont work. Springhead football club is surrounded by housing yet nobody spotted or heard a thing? I live in the area and am kept awake by alarms all night. No one takes any notice of them or even bother to look outside if they hear a disturbance.
