A MOTHER whose 13-year-old son was left bruised and bleeding after an attack in Greenacres is appealing for help to find the gang responsible.

Mrs Danuta Barker was horrified when her son ran home pleading for help with bruises, cuts and a grazed face after going out to meet friends.

He needed hospital treatment and is still undergoing dental treatment after his teeth were loosened by the ferocity of the beating.

She said her slightly-buily son was attacked by a gang of six older boys who stole his mobile phone as he waited at Peanut Park, Greenacres Road, at about 8pm on March 21.

The gang approached him from Balfour Street, she said, and one kept watch while they surrounded him. One put an arm around his neck before they beat him up.

Mrs Barker, of Huddersfield Road, added: “He collapsed when he got home. I was horrified because there was so much blood on him and on his hands where he had tried to defend himself.

“My real concern is that this could happen to another child. My son is still having nightmares, and I am, but he went back to school because he wants to get over it.

“His friends have been very supportive and encouraged him to play out again.”

Greater Manchester Police said: “About six Asian boys aged between 15 and 17 approached the victim and one of them demanded his phone. The boy refused and the offender punched him in the face and stomach, took the phone and ran off towards Hanson Road..”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161-872 5050 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111.
