30ft deep hole causes traffic chaos
Date published: 17 April 2009
MOTORISTS face traffic chaos in Royton as they navigate a hole that is taking up half of the road.
Temporary traffic lights have been in use in Shaw Road for the past few weeks causing hold-ups and long queues.
Councillor Mark Alcock, cabinet member for environment and Infrastructure, said: “The council is aware of this issue.
“It has been caused by the collapse of a culvert that has left a 9m deep hole.
“We are working with other agencies in order to discuss the best and quickest solution.”
Comments
What "We are working with other agencies in order to discuss the best and quickest solution.” Actually means is we don't want to pay for it, "it's not our fault Guv'" so sod the taxpayers while we argue the toss, leading to an inflated price and interminable delay.
FILL IT WITH OLDHAM COUNCIL OFFICIALS THEN TARMAC OVER THEM. JOB DONE!!!
This council & Alcock have the awareness of a protozoal ooze. His definition of quickest does not coincide with ours. We don't want him to work with other agencies in order to discuss anything. What needs discussing? Fix it and fill it in! That's what you're supposed to be there for, earn your pay & allowances.
What a surprise! Traffic chaos, well there would be, this hole has been there since the first week in January! I walk past it every day and have not seen one single person even looking like they were intending to start work on it in all that time.
Have Your Say

PAST FEW WEEKS,MORE LIKE MONTHS AND WHEN THEY DO FILL THE WHOLE AND TARMAC OVER IT COULD THEY CARRY ON UP SHAW ROAD.
ITS LIKE AN OLD ROMAN ROAD.
