Council spending for all to see

Date published: 23 April 2009

RESIDENTS can now read all about the Council’s annual spending plans after the budget book was published for the first time.

It is available in all public buildings and libraries, and also online at www.oldham.gov.uk/budget_book_2009-10.pdf

It shows how the council intends to manage its spending and priorities for the next three financial years.

Councillor Lynne Thompson, cabinet member for finance and resources, said: “This document is a transparent, complete, comprehensive and accurate budget covering all council departments and services that will give all managers a clear three-year forecast of what they can spend.”

Wonderful - Have had a look, and I must admitt that unless we have a break down of what actuall departments are spending, this document falls under the bracket of "Smoke and Mirrors"

Another edition of Billy's Weekly Liar. Do try the 'read this document out loud' option. Sounds like the Daleks have taken over at the Tower of Babble. Can't see a mention of the local govt pension scheme black hole. Reported at £65.3M last year[source DT 24/1/09], can't see it having improved. It can only come out of your TAX so it looks as if we'll have to pay twice to make up the deficit.

transparency more like a black hole you mean we,ll be able to see what they want us to see if its commercially sensitive like chadderton park football clubs breakdown of repairs it will be oh no it dissapeared in to the quasar that is cllr mark alcock and oldham council
