Post office to deliver changes

Date published: 15 May 2009

A LIGHTER, brighter and more modern Oldham Post Office is on the way thanks to refurbishment work set to start tomorrow.

The Lord Street branch will remain open during the refurbishment which is scheduled for completion by early July.

Anthony Haw, branch manager, said: “The refurbishment will result in a new, modern layout which will deliver real customer benefits, whether people are visiting our branch to post a letter or find out more about our range of financial services, such as credit card, savings and insurance products.

“I’m sure customers will be delighted with the new facilities that will be available once the work is finished.”

The investment is set to offer better customer service, as well as provide a more professional environment for staff to offer customers information on the wide range of services available.

while the network of subpost offices is in a terrible run down state with sub postmasters paid a pittance Royal Fail goes and wastes money hand over fist. The sooner it's privatised the better!

What benefit will it be to '..people visiting our branch to post a letter.' You stick 'em in a slot in the wall outside. Seeing as pubs are to have 'Post Office' style queuing for service, why don't the PO retaliate & introduce 'pub' style free for alls at the counters? It could be fun watching folk battle over 50 quids worth of Greek drachma or threatening each other with postal orders. Bouncers would need to be employed to control OAPs who had licked too many stamps.

well i hope this refurbishment also includes more staff being put on! with the closure of many local post offices i would have thought they would have increased the number of counters that where open. only three at 11am on sat! the queue was nearly out of the door! there are 10 counters in there! use them!
