Campaign trail hits Oldham

Date published: 28/05/2009

RAIN couldn’t dampen spirits as the election trail hit the town centre.

Oldham Euro-MP Chris Davies was joined by Simon Hughes, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change to urge shoppers to vote for the Liberal Democrats in next week’s Euro elections.

They are pictured chatting to local resident Ghulam Issa ahead of polling which runs from 7am to 10pm next Thursday. A total of 94 candidates are fighting for eight seats in the North-West. The other parties are Labour, Conservative, BNP, UKIP, English Democrats, No2EU, Socialist Labour Party, the Greens, the Christan Party, Libertas and Jury Team, plus one independent.

Results will be announced on June 7 after Europe has voted.

I take it davies had to be shown the way to oldham by his colleague? He only seems to find his way there at election times ....
Two tired old faces framed in a cloud of corruption.

I bet Ghulam Issa wondered what he'd done wrong to be accosted by these two troughers who haven't the wit to come in out of the rain. But, what the heck, Davies has such an impressive record, representing us at Brussels, we can forgive him anything. I'd made a list of his achievements but I lost the piece of paper. I think the lady wife must have stuck it on an envelope & posted it. Have you ever seen such a dreary list of parties? Let's not vote for any of them. That should be interesting.
