Academy site is bonkers — councillor

OBJECTIONS to the use of the former Orb Mill site as the location for a new academy were repeated last night as proposals to go before the borough’s planning committee in July.

Parish councillors recommended refusal of the plans to merge Counthill and Breeze Hill schools on the Huddersfield Road spot on the grounds that it will cause massive traffic problems.

Councillor Ken Hulme said: “If we are objecting to Birk’s Quarry, partly on the grounds of all the traffic problems it will cause, then surely we must object to these for the same reason. Putting an academy here is bonkers.”

I think we all know it’s bonkers, but oldham council seem to have decided and that it sorry we don’t have democracy in oldham just inept councillors & council leaders. But hey will help fuel congestion and justify a charge later on.

Hello, I never thought i would agree with anything Ken Hulme said

So is the proposed site off Hollins Road which will also cause major traffic problems but seeing as non of our Councillors live in the vicinity, it wont cause a problem for them and they will gladly vote it through.

The whole council is Bonkers

Council is bonkers - academician!

The whole academy idea is daft - but so typical of OMBC!

very true, i know 2 of the council planning team, and 1 lives in middleton, the other bamford. madness!
