Youngsters show off soccer skills

FOOTBALL stars of the future spruced up their soccer skills at specialist coaching sessions.

Social landlord Contour Homes teamed up with Oldham Athletic and First Choice Homes to provide the sessions for children in the Avenues and Hollins area.

A grant of £1,556 from Manchester Community Foundation paid for a football coach from Oldham Athletic to work with the local children.

Shanine Meadowcroft, from Contour Homes, said: “The scheme not only keeps the youngsters active and healthy but also improves their football skills. This is the second year we have been able to take advantage of this funding and the sessions are very popular .”

The children, who played in under 9s, under 13s and under 15s teams, attended a presentation event at Oldham Muslim Centre where they received medals for taking part.
