N-W bloom display targeted by thieves

Date published: 21 July 2009

VANDALS have stolen part of the town centre’s stunning North-West in Bloom entry.

They have made off with a giant name tag with Bloom and Grow (pictured) written on it.

The popular display in Market Place was designed by the council’s award-winning florist Graeme Gibson and features a large book surrounded by glasses, plant pots, pencils and flowers.

CCTV footage is being checked and a disappointed Glen Dale, Oldham’s horticultural services manager, is appealing for the return of the stolen item.

He said: “This took four or five weeks to construct. A lot of work has gone into it for someone just to walk away with part of it.”

The popular display must have missed it..............

What a waste of money ! we have old peoples services cut etc. but the town can afford to pay for rubbish like this.Talk about jobs for the boys.!!!!

Is anybody really surprised that this or any display would be vandalised.

Ah, Oldham . . . .it never fails to disappoint me.

We all know that the Council have no idea.........this just proves it!! When I think that the STUPID clock was £427,000.00 it more than riles me!
